July: All the Lovely Bits

as i mentioned in my last post, not all of july was terrible.  here are some highlights:

andrew and i went over to governors island to check it out.  governors island is located 800 yards from lower manhattan.  it used to be a military base and closed to the public.  now, it's open to the public and it offers all kinds of fun activities.  it hosts a summer concert series, you can rent bikes and ride around the island, it often has art exhibits, etc.  andrew and i decided to go there over the 4th of july weekend, on one of the hottest days of the year.  we had fun, but didn't explore the island as much as we were hoping since the heat was so oppressive.

another art installation.  this was like a reverse greenhouse of sorts.  they had a hose of water continually spraying onto it with the plants hanging from the ceiling

andrew and i also made our way to the beach for a day in july.  we went to the rockaways.  it was a really welcomed escape from the city and accessible by subway, which was great!

one of the most fun nights i had out in nyc since i've been here was in july.  i have a friend, brianna, who is a singer/model/club promoter.  she got me and 8 of my friends into one of the uber exclusive clubs in the meatpacking district.  we were in the vip section and had free bottle service the whole night.  i didn't get home until after the sun had come up.  fun times for sure.

me and brianna.  isn't she gorgeous??  brianna and i were best friends in elementary school.  i had lost touch with her until the wonders of facebook reunited us!

july also brought about the bridal shower and bachelorette party for one of my closest friends from college, karen.  the shower was held in cherry hill, nj.  afterwards, the ladies packed it up and drove to atlantic city for a night of fun (and that's all i'll say)
